During the good old days, with the macher jhola (the home stitched cotton bag) in hand, a Bengali Bhadralok would walk down a short distance to buy fish. He met his friends there, got time to exchange words and keep contact with them. Every one at home enjoyed this fresh fish cooked by the Thakur (cook) with Ma’s instruction.
